Walking through the village of Appley Bridge we started to enter a section of the canal that in years gone by was a hive of industry in various forms, each utilizing the canal network for the transport of raw materials and goods to and from the works.

The end of the day found at us at the newly renovated Swan & Railway pub in Wigan, a fantastic example of a Victorian Pub located a stone's throw from both railway stations and the nearby canal.
