The bridge that takes the M65 motorway over the canal is named Brimicroft Bridge giving reference to the old farm community in Hoghton, located just to the east of the canal.

The Infirmary Hotel was located on the corner of Infirmary Street close to the Infirmary Cotton Mill and is marked on the above map by "P.H." (Public House).
